Angelina Jolie has ovaries and fallopian tubes removed

(FRANKS..) Actress Angelina Jolie has had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as a preventative measure against cancer. Writing in the New York Times , Jolie said she had the surgery last week as she carries a gene that gave her a 50% risk of developing ovarian cancer. Two years ago, Jolie, whose mother died from cancer, had a double mastectomy. "It is not easy to make these decisions," she said. "But it is possible to take control and tackle head-on any health issue." Jolie, who is married to Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, elected to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after a check-up two weeks ago. Germanwings airliner 4U 9525 crashes in French Alps

(FRANKS..) An Airbus A320 airliner has crashed in the French Alps between Barcelonnette and Digne, French aviation officials and police have said. The jet belongs to the German airline Germanwings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa. The plane, flight 4U 9525, had been en route from Barcelona to Duesseldorf with 144 passengers and six crew. French President Francois Hollande said: "The conditions of the accident, which have not yet been clarified, lead us to think there are no survivors." Mr Hollande said the crash was a tragedy, adding that the area was very difficult to access. Doctors claim first successful penis transplant

(FRANKS..) (CNN) South African doctors have achieved what they call the world's first successful penile transplant operation. The nine-hour operation occurred on December 11, 2014, involving a team of doctors at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town and others from Tygerberg Hospital. The young man, whose identity "is being protected for ethical reasons," has made a full recovery -- a result which the doctors did not expect to occur until about December 2016. The recovery includes, "restoration of all the patient's urinary and reproductive functions," according to a university press release Friday. "It's a massive breakthrough. We've proved that it can be done" said Professor Frank Graewe, head of the division of plastic reconstructive surgery at Stellenbosch University. ISIS kidnaps 20 medical workers in Libya

(FRANKS..) (CNN) ISIS kidnapped about 20 medical workers with the Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte, Libya, on Monday during an attack on the facility, according to a hospital official. A group of more than 30 gunmen from the Islamic State attacked the hospital while a bus was waiting to take the workers, who are not Libyan, to the capital of Tripoli. Most of the abductees are from the Philippines. Others are from Ukraine, India and Serbia, said the hospital official. The official believes the ISIS gunmen didn't want the staff to leave the city because they are the only medical team there if they needed them for the group's wounded and injured. Sirte lies halfway between Tripoli and Benghazi. The city was the final major stronghold of Moammar Gadhafi loyalists in the Libyan civil war. Gadhafi was killed there. Bomb attacks kill 50 in Nigeria's Maiduguri

(FRANKS..) At least 50 people have been killed and many others wounded in a series of suicide bomb attacks in Nigeria. The attacks were carried out in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state where the militant Islamist group Boko Haram originates from. A total of five explosions went off at two busy markets and a bus terminal near a government security service building, at least two were set off by female bombers and another by a teenage boy. Anbarasan Ethirajan reports.

Building the world's biggest record collection

(FRANKS..) Zero Freitas has been obsessed with music since he was a little boy growing up in Brazil. Since buying his first record as a teenager, he has steadily built up a collection of vinyl to rival any in the world. Now in his 60s, Freitas owns more than 5 million records, thanks largely to his fortune built operating a bus company in Sao Paulo. He buys discs from all over the world and employs a team to process and catalogue them. Zero's ultimate ambition is to create a vinyl library accessible to the whole world. (FRANKS..) A fatal accident occurred this morning March 17th around 6:50am along General Hospital Road, Ikorodu. The disaster happened when a tanker carrying fuel lost control and ran into a popular cow market known as Odo-eran and burst into flames. 21 years old fraudster caught-Niger guys no dull

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a suspected fraudster, Obiechina Chikeluba for allegedly swindling Kieran Oakes, a UK citizen, the sum of £54,000 (equivalent of N20m) in love scam. Chikeluba, a 21-year-old student of Federal Science and Technical College Yaba, Lagos, met the victim on Facebook sometime in 2013. The suspect, using the assumed profile of an American, Lisa Jackson, entered into a relationship with Oakes, with the pair agreeing to get married. In the course of their relationship, ‘Jackson’ at various times collected money to the tune of £54,000 from Oakes, to enable him travel to the UK to meet her. After an endless wait for her fiancĂ©, it dawned on the Briton that she had been conned, and consequently petitioned the EFCC.
